Get in about 10:30am . That’s a little early because I will be on campus teaching until 8pm, but I have stuff I need to get ready for that class.
Make some changes to my presentation. Copy the handouts I want to use. Pull the mags/journals and articles I am using for the scholarly vs non scholarly exercises. Put together packets and my bag so I am ready to head out a little before 6pm
11: 15 Glance at email. Volunteer to do RefWorks workshop on Thursday. We had 9 attend on Saturday, a record.
Call from Faculty member trying to find research article story on NPR referenced this am. I heard the story. Walk her through the steps. Article is there. Yeah!
Talk to colleague about changes we will be making to Library assessment Plan and Reports this year based on feedback from Univ Assessment Officer. She and I coordinate the Library assessment activities for the next 2 years.
Noon. Head to pool for water aerobics.
1pm. Student employee was here while I was gone. keep trying to connect with her to get the schedule worked out.
Hang instruction schedules for the week, usually done by student.
Review draft pages for web page redesign that will go live Mar 1. Send to Ref Team for feedback.
Read some Choice reviews and order some titles.
2pm-4pm. Ref Desk hours. A little on the quiet side. Had 3 or 4 interesting questions but mostly directional and computer problems
4pm Back in office. More ordering. Dean stops by and we discuss assessment and staff vacancy on my team. She wants recommendation on posting by the end of the week.
5:00 Start to write this blog entry for Day in the Life.
Oh Its raining. It will make schlepping across campus with all the stuff for class a pain.
5:30. Print cartridge crisis in Ref area. Order did not get sent in until today. Lat one just got opened. we may not make it to Thursday when order arrives. Yikes.
5:45 Check on “new” librarian who is having her first shift alone. Review some RefWorks info with her. Head to catch shuttle to other campus for class.
6:00 On shuttle.
6:15. Arrive at other campus. Drop coat and bag off in Library room. Head to lab.
6:25 In lab with all new Apples. Nice. Projector not turning on. Start class without projector. Technician arrives about 6:45. Get projector about 6:50. Happy it was a more complex problem and not that I just didn’t hit the correct switch. Joys of teaching in different rooms all the time.
7:45. Class over. Went well . Grad students are great to work with. Reviewed scholarly vs. not. Advanced features of PsycInfo and brief intro to RefWorks. Lost of hands on. Great evals.
